Over 150 Persons Sign-up for Electric Vehicle Training

The CCREEE-hosted Electric Vehicle Maintenance Training of Trainers Programme came online on November 18th 2020, commencing with module one.

Module one provided more than 160 registered participants with the opportunity to learn more about basic and advanced electric vehicle technology; servicing and maintenance; electric vehicle/hybrid electric vehicle safety; and standards, testing and regulation.

Participants are working through the pre-recorded content at their own pace and as suitable to their own schedules. Two advanced live sessions on electric vehicle technology are complementing the asynchronous training sessions.

This training programme is provided free of cost for all CARICOM residents, who have been accepted into the programme. The programme has specifically targeted:

  • Instructors representing training institutions within CARICOM and its member states
  • Automotive mechanics trainers
  • First responder trainers
  • Regulators, electrical inspectors and customs personnel

With interest registered from more than 300 persons across CARICOM’s fifteen Member States, the CCREEE intends to further support electric mobility capacity development by offering the training programme again in the near future. As countries seek to meet their global goals and targets, such as those stated in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the CCREEE supports their efforts through championing the sustainable energy cause.

Funding for this programme was kindly provided by the Kingdom of Spain (AECID) and the Technical Assistance Programme for Sustainable Energy in the Caribbean (TAPSEC).
