TECHNICAL SPECIALIST – GENDER

BACKGROUND DESCRIPTION

CCREEE is a CARICOM agreed regional development organisation that has been operational since 2018 and serves as the Caribbean hub for sustainable energy. The Centre supports policy and regulatory development, institutional and human capacity building, project preparation and facilitation, knowledge management, investment mobilisation, and regional coordination to advance secure, affordable, and climate resilient energy systems.

With funding from the Caribbean Development Bank, CCREEE is implementing Phase A of the Accelerating Sustainable Energy and Resilient Transitions 2030 Regional Capacity Strengthening Programme. This multi phase regional programme is designed to address institutional, technical, and human capacity gaps that continue to limit the pace, scale, and inclusiveness of sustainable energy transitions across CDB Borrowing Member Countries. Activities include regional training and certification, sustainable energy data systems and decision support tools, a regional Help Desk, Integrated Resource and Resilience Planning, pooled procurement mechanisms, structured regional dialogue, and targeted gender responsive programming through the Women in Renewable Energy network.

Gender equality and social inclusion are central to CCREEE’s mandate and the ASERT 2030 programme design. To ensure gender objectives are systematically integrated, operationalised, and sustained across ASERT 2030 and CCREEE’s wider portfolio, CCREEE will engage a Technical Specialist Gender. The role is designed to operate at both programme and institutional levels, supporting a shift from compliance based mainstreaming toward structural change in the Caribbean energy ecosystem.
