SUMMARY:Public Sector Information Session
DESCRIPTION:The Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) is pleased to invite you to our Information Session on Supporting Sustainable Energy Investment Decisions.  \nEvent Details \nThe information session will be held on May 19th\, 2021 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. AST via Zoom. Targeted towards the public sector\, the session will feature two mechanisms within the CCREEE that support sustainable energy investment: the Project Preparation Facility’s (PPF) public sector stream and the CARICOM Energy Knowledge Hub’s (CEKH) Energy Report Cards (ERC).   \n\nAbout the Session  \nCCREEE PPF  \nThe PPF aims to support the development of bankable sustainable energy projects. The facility offers technical assistance\, advisory services\, and financial matchmaking to both the private and public sector. The facility commenced its private sector stream at its launch in November of 2020 while the public sector stream was recently launched on May 4th\, 2021.  \nThis information session will provide pertinent information on the public sector stream via an overview of the facility’s services\, benefits\, and application process.  \nCEKH and ERCs  \nThe CEKH was launched on April 29th\, 2021. The hub seeks to be the key modality through which energy knowledge sharing and learning take place in the region. A significant knowledge product within the CEKH is the Energy Report Cards (ERCs) published annually by the CCREEE to provide a snapshot of the energy landscape in each member state.   \nGiven the ERC’s role in stating the regional investment case\, the information session will highlight mechanisms to improve energy data collection and information processes.   \n\nHow to Join the Session \nWe welcome participation from relevant representatives within your institution. Kindly register in advance using the link below to access meeting details.  \nRegister Here  \nYou can learn more about the PPF and the CEKH by visiting www.ccreee.org/ppf and https://cekh.ccreee.org/ respectively.   \nWe look forward to your participation.  \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:PPF Public Sector Launch
DESCRIPTION:The CCREEE will launch the public sector stream of its Project Preparation Facility (PPF) on May 4th\, 2021.  In November 2020\, the Centre launched the private sector stream of the Facility and to date has been engaging with private sector project proponents.   \nThe CCREEE PPF aims to address the region’s main barriers to sustainable energy uptake\, and bridges the gap between uncertain projects and practical investments through the provision of technical assistance\, advisory support\, and investor-developer matchmaking.   \nThe public sector stream of the Facility will operate on the guiding principle that energy is an essential part of climate governance. Therefore\, the services offered will advance public sector energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) projects\, thus making them better able to attract sources of financing including climate financing\, towards swifter adoption. The end goal is to assist Caribbean territories in accelerating the energy revolution to meet goals set out in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) endorsed by the United Nations and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in line with the Paris Agreement. Moreover\, the CARICOM region has achieved an RE penetration of 15% installed capacity\, a significant deviation from our regional target of 47% by the year 2027. Successful project development and implementation is therefore key to fast tracking the regional energy transition.   \nIn keeping with the region’s continued response to the corona virus threat\, the launch will take the form of a virtual high–level round table discussion\, to include high level representatives in a discussion which connects energy\, climate change and finance. This high-level forum is planned for May 4th from 10 am to 11:30 am with live media streaming.   \nJoin us for this exciting roundtable event\, under the theme: The Energy and Climate Nexus: Meeting Targets and Goals through Project Development \n  \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Basic Demand Projection Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) invites you to attend a capacity building session on Basic Demand Projection\, to be held virtually on Tuesday\, April 13th 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. AST. This will be an introductory presentation on: \n\nthe various techniques used in demand projection in the electricity sector (ranging from simple to sophisticated)\, taking into consideration climate variability;\nthe engineering-economy (also known as the “bottom-up” approach) demand projection technique\,\ndifference in data quality for programme planning versus actual site implementation\, taking into consideration climate variability.\n\nThis session will be led by the Faculty of Engineering at The University of the West Indies\, St. Augustine Campus. \nIntended Audience: Energy planning professionals (at utilities\, regulators or energy agencies)\, academics\, and graduate students. \nAbout this series: Planning for the future of the electricity sector requires an appreciation of the technical issues arising from grid expansion with renewable energy integration. As the CCREEE works with stakeholders towards delivering Integrated Resource and Resilience Plans (IRRPs) for countries across the Caribbean\, it has produced a series of capacity building sessions designed to address critical elements of the IRRP process. These sessions are intended to build institutional capacity for energy planning across the region. \nTo stay abreast of future events\, please visit Events – CCREEE \nTo register for the follow up to this session\, Demand Side Management (DSM)\, to be held on Tuesday\, April 20th\, please visit <hyperlink to DSM registration> \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:PPF Information Session: Financial Institutions & Regional Partners
DESCRIPTION:The CCREEE Project Preparation Facility (PPF)\, launched in November of 2020\, is hosting a series of information sessions to inform various groups of potential beneficiaries of the PPF. The second information session will be held on March 4th\, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. AST. This event targets financial institutions and regional partners.  \n\nAbout the Session \nThe PPF offers a broad range of services to support renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for both project developers and financiers. The services stand to benefit early to mid-stage projects in need of inter alia business plan refinement\, impact assessments\, and technical studies and late-stage projects in need of financier/investor matchmaking.   \nThrough this information session\, we seek to give an overview of the PPF\, highlighting cooperation opportunities for financial institutions as well as key benefits for regional partners’ member states or organisations.   \nTo learn more about the PPF before the information session visit www.ccreee.org/ppf   \n\n\nHow to Join the Session \nWe welcome participation from relevant representatives within your institution. Kindly register in advance using the link below to access meeting details.  \nRegister Here \nWe look forward to your participation!
