SUMMARY:Storytelling the Sustainable Energy Transition: A Media Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The annual CARICOM Energy Month (CEM) continues this year under the theme ‘From Dependence to Resilience: “Fueling” our Recovery with Sustainable Energy’. Many CARICOM countries have set goals to transition to a more sustainable energy sector and are making strides to reach them. It is impossible to complete a transition of this magnitude without society’s inclusion. To facilitate public awareness of the changes in the energy sector these must first be narrated in the public media. \nThe CCREEE therefore invites journalists and media representatives to attend a  Media Sensitization Workshop\, entitled ‘Storytelling the Sustainable Energy Transition’ on 29 November 2021 at 10:00am AST. The workshop will take place on the CEM virtual platform and feature recent\, important data covering individual member states and the region at large. The goal of the event is to assist with narrating the sustainable energy transition. You can expect to gain:\n• An understanding of the importance of the shift to renewable energy\, including general\nknowledge;\n• Insights into the region’s energy sector\, current status and goals for the future;\n• Information specific to each CARICOM member state;\n• Access to the experts in the field;\n• Connections to spaces to watch in the renewable energy sector \nRegister

SUMMARY:GHG Mitigation Modelling Tools - Session 7: Introduction to REmap Tool
DESCRIPTION:This is the seventh session of the series which introduces one of the tools for energy and CO2 Modelling developed by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)’s REmap programme – IRENA REmap. The Excel® based REmap tool as well as the FlexTool allows IRENA’s analysts and national experts to evaluate and create a country-level analysis to assess renewable energy technology options on sector level. The tool provides a simplified but dynamic accounting framework to create and evaluate energy system developments and costs at sector (power\, transport\, industry\, buildings) and technology level. It primarily provides renewable energy scenario analysis and has the capacity to model and project CO2 emissions from energy sector activities and various energy scenarios. \nThe seventh session of the GHG Mitigation Modeling tools Introduction Webinar Series 2021 is brought to you by the MRV Hub in collaboration with CCREEE and UNFCCC-RCC St. George’s. It introduces IRENA’s REmap tool as a tool for energy and CO2 modelling and projections. This session will be presented to you in partnership with IRENA\, developers of the REmap tool. \nThe session will specifically focus on: \n\nIntroducing the capabilities and functions of REmap & FlexTool as a modelling toolkit for energy and CO2 emissions;\nLooking at data and other requirements for operation of the REmap & FlexTool;\nDemonstrating the capabilities of the tool for CO2 modelling and projections through case studies.\n\nDOWNLOAD OUTLINE \nREGISTER HERE \nAccess Webinar

SUMMARY:Energy Storage Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) invites you to attend a capacity building session on Energy Storage\, to be held virtually on Tuesday\, June 1\, 2021 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. AST. This presentation will provide a close examination of various technologies to support resilience and key considerations and best practices in design of resilient system\, which could include focus primarily on storage. \nThis session will be facilitated by NREL through the kind support of USAID. \nIntended Audience: Energy planning professionals (at utilities\, regulators or energy agencies)\, academics\, and graduate students. \nAbout this series: Planning for the future of the electricity sector requires an appreciation of the technical issues arising from grid expansion with renewable energy integration. As the CCREEE works with stakeholders towards delivering Integrated Resource and Resilience Plans (IRRPs) for countries across the Caribbean\, it has produced a series of capacity building sessions designed to address critical elements of the IRRP process. These sessions are intended to build institutional capacity for energy planning across the region. \nTo stay abreast of future events\, please visit Events – CCREEE \n  \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Public Sector Information Session
DESCRIPTION:The Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) is pleased to invite you to our Information Session on Supporting Sustainable Energy Investment Decisions.  \nEvent Details \nThe information session will be held on May 19th\, 2021 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. AST via Zoom. Targeted towards the public sector\, the session will feature two mechanisms within the CCREEE that support sustainable energy investment: the Project Preparation Facility’s (PPF) public sector stream and the CARICOM Energy Knowledge Hub’s (CEKH) Energy Report Cards (ERC).   \n\nAbout the Session  \nCCREEE PPF  \nThe PPF aims to support the development of bankable sustainable energy projects. The facility offers technical assistance\, advisory services\, and financial matchmaking to both the private and public sector. The facility commenced its private sector stream at its launch in November of 2020 while the public sector stream was recently launched on May 4th\, 2021.  \nThis information session will provide pertinent information on the public sector stream via an overview of the facility’s services\, benefits\, and application process.  \nCEKH and ERCs  \nThe CEKH was launched on April 29th\, 2021. The hub seeks to be the key modality through which energy knowledge sharing and learning take place in the region. A significant knowledge product within the CEKH is the Energy Report Cards (ERCs) published annually by the CCREEE to provide a snapshot of the energy landscape in each member state.   \nGiven the ERC’s role in stating the regional investment case\, the information session will highlight mechanisms to improve energy data collection and information processes.   \n\nHow to Join the Session \nWe welcome participation from relevant representatives within your institution. Kindly register in advance using the link below to access meeting details.  \nRegister Here  \nYou can learn more about the PPF and the CEKH by visiting www.ccreee.org/ppf and https://cekh.ccreee.org/ respectively.   \nWe look forward to your participation.  \nREGISTER HERE
