SUMMARY:PPF Proposal Writing Training Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Background  \nDespite the abundance of sustainable energy opportunities in the Caribbean region\, the rate of implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects falls below national and regional targets. One of the key challenges responsible for this is the lack of expertise to prepare project documentation that enables access to technical assistance and project financing.   \nHindered by this challenge\, companies and organizations in the region are not able to profit from the economic\, social\, and environmental benefits offered by sustainable energy.   \nObjective  \nThis training aims to build capacity among Caribbean project proponents by equipping them with the knowledge needed to develop high-quality sustainable energy project concepts and proposals.   \nTarget Audience  \nThe training is particularly geared towards project owners and developers engaged with early-stage projects. It will be interactive and practical\, guiding participants step by step through a project concept template. By the end of the training\, participants will be edified on how to structure a project concept document\, articulate their plans\, and highlight their projects’ value.   \nParticipants will also be introduced to the opportunities offered by the CCREEE Project Preparation Facility (PPF) and its partners for technical and financial project support.  \nAbout the PPF  \nThe CCREEE PPF aims to support the development of bankable renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. The facility offers technical assistance\, advisory services\, and financial matchmaking to both the private and public sectors. The facility commenced its operations in November 2020.  \nYou can learn more about the PPF by visiting www.ccreee.org/ppf. For any additional information please contact ppf@ccreee.org.   \nTo register for this training\, please follow the link below:   \n  \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Geothermal Webinar: Providing Opportunities Beyond Electricity
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Caribbean region is seeking to strengthen and expand its productive sectors as we move to recover from the impacts of recent global events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses are not only looking to reduce operating costs but are looking to reinvent the economy with opportunities for new\, efficient products and services for increased revenues. Geothermal resources could help drive economic growth in the Eastern Caribbean. Whilst efforts have focused on the generation of cheaper\, reliable electricity from our geothermal sources\, it may be even more beneficial to explore the use of geothermal resources to support businesses who have a demand for heating and cooling. \nAcross the world\, geothermal resources remain relatively untapped but in recent years significant progress in geothermal development for both electricity and direct uses have helped transform the economies in developing countries in Africa and Latin America. Similar success in the Caribbean would make our economies more competitive and propel us to improved standards of living. In light of this\, a recent study of three Caribbean islands\, Dominica\, Montserrat and Nevis\, examined opportunities in geothermal development beyond electricity generation for the region. \nCan geothermal energy support new industries\, lower the cost of production\, and open new export markets? What new products and jobs can the tourism\, manufacturing\, and agriculture sectors directly benefit from the development of the region’s geothermal resources? Can new geothermal-based opportunities for food and beverage manufacture\, refrigeration\, and building cooling\, spas\, and hot pools accelerate our geothermal development projects and support optimal use? How can local businesses and entrepreneurs take advantage of these new opportunities? Join us as we examine potential direct uses of geothermal applications for the region and identify immediate next steps to realise these opportunities for a stronger economy for all our citizens. \n  \nRegister

SUMMARY:Storytelling the Sustainable Energy Transition: A Media Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The annual CARICOM Energy Month (CEM) continues this year under the theme ‘From Dependence to Resilience: “Fueling” our Recovery with Sustainable Energy’. Many CARICOM countries have set goals to transition to a more sustainable energy sector and are making strides to reach them. It is impossible to complete a transition of this magnitude without society’s inclusion. To facilitate public awareness of the changes in the energy sector these must first be narrated in the public media. \nThe CCREEE therefore invites journalists and media representatives to attend a  Media Sensitization Workshop\, entitled ‘Storytelling the Sustainable Energy Transition’ on 29 November 2021 at 10:00am AST. The workshop will take place on the CEM virtual platform and feature recent\, important data covering individual member states and the region at large. The goal of the event is to assist with narrating the sustainable energy transition. You can expect to gain:\n• An understanding of the importance of the shift to renewable energy\, including general\nknowledge;\n• Insights into the region’s energy sector\, current status and goals for the future;\n• Information specific to each CARICOM member state;\n• Access to the experts in the field;\n• Connections to spaces to watch in the renewable energy sector \nRegister
